Position: Assignment Editor Company: Sunbelt Communications Station(s): KVBC-TV Job Type: fulltime Hours: Compensation: / year Job Description: Make news contacts, generate story ideas, set up and schedule stories, monitor police/fire scanners, two way radio, wires, papers and internet Direct camera crews to news locations Assign stories to reporters and photographers for daily coverage Arrange interviews and opportunities to shoot video Coordinate microwave and satellite live shots, take tape feeds and occasionally edit videotape Input Daily and Future news assignments into iNews Input script information Answer newsroom phones Interact with assignment desks at other stations Conduct research on various topics Relieve main assignment editor for vacation and sick days Perform other tasks related to the position as assigned Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k Education Required: College Degree Experience Required: One year prior experience as an Assignment Editor and college degree required Other Requirements: One year prior experience as an Assignment Editor and college degree required Must deal with pressure situations, demonstrate good news judgment, and be capable of directing others while maintaining a good attitude Must be able to type and operate a computer Posses valid Nevada drivers license or able to obtain one within 30 days of employment with a clean driving record Ability to conduct interviews
